What made you want to be a part of SAMS?
I wanted to run back for round 2 with the SAMS exec team because with a year of experience under my belt being involved with the SAMS community, I know there's still so much more to give. We achieved a lot in 2025, but the work is never truly finished, and there will always be another student who needs support and guidance and that’s why we do what we do.
What makes me most passionate about being in SAMS is knowing exactly what it feels like to be in the shoes of the people we help out. I've been that person who didn't know where to turn and made mistakes that could have been avoided with the right support around them. Experiencing that has never left me and it's the reason why I'm so passionate about being the person I needed when I was a first-year, making sure the people coming after me don't have to figure it all out alone.
What are your goals/aims as an executive member of SAMS?
- Help to create and maintain super visible and accessible channels for MEDSCI students to be heard and make sure that feedback actually reaches faculty and drives real change.
- Make academic support easier to find, as a lot of help exists that students don't even know about. I want to make sure everyone knows what's available to them so no one has to figure it all out alone.
- Bring SAMS and academic staff closer together, by helping to foster genuine relationships between lecturers and faculty leadership so the student voice isn't just consulted in meetings a handful of times throughout the year, but actually shapes decisions throughout it.
